People Over Party. People Over Profits. People Over Politics.
A Different Alabama is Possible
About the Campaign
Ryan Cagle is a proud native of Walker County, Alabama, a minister, community organizer, and co-founder who has worked to address food insecurity, the opioid crisis, and systemic poverty in his community for years. He has been at the forefront of efforts to hold elected officials accountable and advocate for justice in the face of egregious abuses of power, and believes that a different Alabama is possible.
Ryan comes from a long line of working class Democrats who shaped his political imagination and taught him what it means to love and fight for his community, but believes now more than ever that we must put people before party. The good ol' boy system has profited off the backs of working class Alabamians for too long. It is time to take District 5 back for the people.
Ryan's campaign is rooted in the belief that local communities have the power to solve their own problems, with government providing support, BUT not control. He’s committed to keeping the wealth generated in District 5 within the community to fund local initiatives that tackle issues like food insecurity, the opioid crisis, and economic development.
Ryan believes that the People of District 5, and all of Alabama, must come before the profits and interests of career politicians and the corporations that fund them.

We can't keep doing the same old things expecting different results. For far too long District 5 has been owned and operated by the good ol' boy system and it is past time that it be taken back for the people.
